This is the year 8 German homework from Ms Lupton and Miss Hogan to be done for next lesson.
Please answer the questions in the back of your exercise books.
Homework for this week is to listen to the song "Hallo Georg", in which Georg desribes his brother and his pet snake, and complete a gapfill exercise based on it. Below you will find an audio file of the song to download, and also the worksheet with the gapfill on it. You do NOT need to print off the sheet - just write the answers into the back of your book so we can go over it in class. Viel Glück! Frau Pysanczyn.
These two online dictionaries are the best ones we in the Languages department have found so far. Use them carefully when you have extended pieces of writing to do. Year 10 may want to use them when they are preparing for assessments.
For French, go to www.wordreference.com/enfr
For German, go to dict.leo.org
Remember, these are dictionaries, not translators. You can use them to look up individual words, not translate entire pieces of writing.
Year 10 must also remember that you are not allowed to use any online translators for your work, and your languages teacher(s) WILL be able to tell! You are, however, permitted to use these dictionaries to help you.
If you know of a better online dictionary (NOT translator!), then please let us know by leaving a comment and we will have a look at it.
These are the exam revision guides you have been given by your teachers. If you want extra copies of sheets from the booklet, or even just prefer to read an electronic copy, download them!
J'entends la pie qui chante.
Y’a une pie dans le poirier,
J'entends la pie chanter.
J'entends, j'entends,
J'entends la pie qui chante.
J'entends, j'entends,
J'entends la pie chanter.
Many of you in year 6 will have enjoyed singing this traditional French song. Can you remember what bird it is about? Where is the bird and what is he doing?
Here is the song 'Hallo Georg', which lots of you will have heard (and possibly sung along to) in your German lessons.
Lyrics:
Hallo Georg!
